The Beginning...

Sometimes you don't have to look for opportunities . They fall right onto your lap!!
It all started with another orientation. Standing in the common room , fumbling with my own thoughts, it was hard to concentrate on what was being said. Suddenly, a name drew everybody's attention - SPIC MACAY; the crowd was resuscitated in a blink! Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth. I could see around that that people were listening, absorbing every bit of information being told. We were told about the motive, work culture and types of event organized.
The first word to express my first impression is " different", a class apart from the rest. A society inducting members at the end their first year, when they are mature enough to take a decision. A society encompassing different colleges of Pantnagar and yet standing integrated before us. A society committed to a cause. A society that is internationally renowned. I had already made up my mind by then.
Standing in row outside a room with my confidence level dwindling I listened eagerly to my group mates discussing about the questions that could be asked in the interview. The next thing I remember is that we were sitting before the whole SPIC MACAY body, ' firing questions at us'. We were being noticed for every move that we made. It was obvious that each word that we spoke was being weighed and this very fact doubled up my heartbeats. The interview went fine but I was clueless whether I would get a selection call or not but the very experience of a group interview had filled a thrill in me.
Out of the blue, one day I started getting messages one after another and calls in a row. " I got selected in Macay!!". It was a feeling hard to convey in words when we addressed as first year, SPIC MACAY. It still is. Moreover we were no more individuals from different colleges, but a 'team'.
As works kicks off from this semester, I hope to come up to the expectations of my society. It sounds different , yet native- MY SOCIETY.
