SPIC MACAY,
Pantnagar Chapter successfully organized yet another astounding artist evening
on the 26th of November, 2014, featuring Dr. Malabika Mitra, an eminent
Kathak Dancer- an artist of rare individuality blending the technical
brilliance of the Jaipur Gharana with the delicate grace of the Lucknow
Gharana. She was accompanied by Pt. Dinanath Mishra, a distinguished tabla player,
who accentuated the melodious jingle of her ghungroos
with the thrilling beats of his tabla, and Pt. Anand Gupta, a renowned
vocalist and harmonium player, who transported the audience into the blissful
era of the ancient India with his alluring voice.
The evening
commenced with the lightening of the deepshikha by the Honorable Vice Chancellor,
Dr. H. S. Dhami, followed by the bewitching Ganesha
Vandana by Dr. Malabika Mitra, who mesmerized the audience, with her dance
as well as with her words. Not only did she magically associate the beats and
dance steps with “The Attitude of Human Beings” but also conveyed a great
message, according to which ‘we neither bring along nor take back anything from
this world’. The central idea of all her dance performances is that ‘Our sole
impression which will stay forever in this world is the positivity and happiness
that we will spread around’.
