PARAMPARAA'15

SPIC MACAY, Pantnagar Chapter organized PARAMPARAA’15 in the clover at the 98th National Kisan Mela from 1st to 4th Oct’15 at the comely grounds of Gandhi Park at Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology. Paramparaa’15, which marked nine years of successfully organizing a heritage fair for the masses succeeded in its bourne of promoting our rich Indian heritage and culture by showcasing a myriad of ethnic and traditional Indian handicrafts and goods.

The stalls were decorated beautifully by the diligent efforts of the body members. Supernally decorated birds with daedal work, inspired from the Madhubani art, hung at the entrance welcomed the people warmly. The main attractions of the stalls were beautifully decorated pots portraying the art forms of our country, namely the ancient art, the medieval art and the modern art. Camels and ‘Kandeels’ were used as hangings and added cherry to the cake.

The stalls showcased a variety of ethnic Indian goods and craftworks showing the different colours of our motherland. Bhelpuri and Banarasi Pan Stalls welcomed the guests at the entrance. Refreshing Lassi stall rejuvenated the people in the sultry days. The other stalls were rice work stall, bead stall, ethnic wear stall and herbal stall. Rajasthani handicrafts and jute bag stalls were the main attractions. CDs of regional folk music, devotional songs and Gazals also enhanced the ethnicity of the aura. The stall was visited by several dignitaries, faculty members, local residents, university students, farmers and other people from various regions of the nation.

The gracious presence of the Governor of Uttarakhand, Dr. Krishan Kant Paul, and The Chief Minister Of the State, Mr. Harish Rawat, on the first and the last day of the fair respectively catalyzed the enthusiasm among us. A special prize was also awarded to the stall for such a beautiful display of the multifarious Indian culture and tradition under one roof.

The four days of Paramparaa’15 can never be forgotten by any one of us. It was the first event organized by SPIC MACAY, Pantnagar Chapter for the session 2015-16 and helped us learn about the functioning of the society. Not only did its success elucidate the grandeur of  SPIC MACAY, Pantnagar Chapter but also revitalized the spirits of each of us, especially those who were in Paramparaa’s organizing team for the first time creating a trail of memories and in the same time looking forward to perfection.
