With high hopes
and numerous expectations for beginning the journey called “college life”, we
stepped onto the lanes of Pantnagar, a lush green campus residing in the
footsteps of the mighty hills. Our initial days were spent in the exploration
of this beautiful place. The days were passing amidst the dragging lectures,
planning unsuccessful mass bunks and umpteen jovial events. Just like a
roller-coaster ride, the journey of first year included many highs and lows and
as we were about to comprehend this adventurous entry in our yearly diary, came
the notification regarding the induction of the eminent society of SPIC MACAY
Pantnagar Chapter. Enthralled and nervous, we gave our best in an hour-long
heated interview, to be a part of a renowned society of such high stature. The
sun rose up and came the day when the results of the inductions were announced,
and we were overwhelmed to see our names in the list of inductive executive
body members of the society. We were elated to witness what this new chapter of
our voyage will unfold for us all.
The first thing
we came across, being a part of SPIC MACAY family was the genteel meeting. It
was the time when we realised why we stood out of the crowd. Everything was so
well organised and professionally done. Our euphoria reached its zenith. It is
a plethora of learning where we ecstatically got involved in the new odyssey of
SPIC MACAY Chapter. The best part of the
meeting was the time when we were supposed to introduce ourselves. We got
enrapt at the thought that our names are now attached to SPIC MACAY.
Farewell is the
time to bid adieu to those seniors under whom we were well guided throughout.
The bond amongst the members of SPIC MACAY was equal to the bond between the
members of a family. Although saying goodbye to our loving seniors was a
heartbreaking moment, we wished them a happy life and a bright and successful
future ahead. We promised ourselves that we would always keep the flame of SPIC
MACAY glowing in us forever.
To embrace our
knowledge about the events our seniors conducted a workshop in which we were
made aware of the protocols and conduct of the society required for the eutaxy
in the society. They told us about the art and craft work and greatly enlightened
our software skills. They added a lot to our knowledge and paved our path for
future work.
The first
responsibility as SPIC MACAY members was Teacher’s Day celebration which proved
to be a real success. It was at this time that we realised that the
transformation of a piece of stone to a diamond takes that one very person whom
we always tend to forget. The one who works to watch his student’s future full
of success and ebullience. We gifted handmade cards to our teachers which they
were delighted to receive. Like a potter, a teacher shapes the future of his
student and we are grateful to them for their guidance.
After palmy
completion of our first task, we pledged to take SPIC MACAY to great heights oppugning
any challenges that might come forth. The majestic grandeur and simplicity of
the society to promote Indian culture is attracting today’s youth who are
deviated from its original grounds and are easily falling a prey to western
culture. It makes us exultant to be a part of the society which doesn’t aim to
bring a change, but a revolution.
